What is vitamin D?

Here’s a list of foods rich in vitamin D: fish liver oils, such as cod liver oil; fatty wild fish like mackerel, salmon, halibut, tuna, sardines and herring; fortified milk, orange juice and cereal; dried shitake mushrooms; egg yolks.

The recommended daily allowance of the vitamin is 400-800 IU in capsules for adults before 50, and 800-1000 IU for people over 50.
